School Tours
Chestnut Square Historic Village has provided over forty years of historical educational programming to the Metroplex. We have activities and school tours for all ages. In April, we have our Pioneer Days – come and learn how the pioneers lived here. The month of October has our Pre-K and Kindergarten Pumpkin Patch. It is one of the most popular in the area. Our annual Old Fashioned Holiday Story Time and Sing-Along is lots of fun the first two weeks of December. During the school year, we regularly host students in kindergarten through high school for field trips and historical tours. We’re a very popular option for home school groups, as well! We are happy to welcome groups of all sizes; however, groups of over 100 students need to arrange for extra time for their tours.
On-site Presentations
If a school can’t come to us, we also provide on-site Civil War and pioneer-era presentations for schools in our area! Two highly-skilled docents will present on-site at your school, dressed in period attire, and display historical artifacts from the era. Entertaining while still being educational, our Civil War presentations are always a hit with students.
Summer Camps
Our Prairie Adventure Camps educate and entertain campers in a “living history-style” summer camp that is unique in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They give campers a glimpse into the past along with a big dose of old-fashioned summer fun! Our camps are extremely popular and fill up quickly every year, so if you are interested – register early!
