Take a glimpse at the exciting history of Texas patriot, Collin McKinney, the namesake of the City of McKinney and Collin County by touring the exhibits at the Collin County Historic Museum. Join in the 250th birthday celebration during the month of April and uncover more about the statesman, who was one of five men who helped draft the Texas Declaration of Independence, via an Eventzee digital scavenger hunt. Visit downtown McKinney businesses and participate in the Collin McKinney 250 Cake Walk and electronically vote for your favorite ornamental birthday cake.

Saturday, April 16

  • Farmers’ Market and Collin McKinney Exhibit at Historic Chestnut Square 8 a.m. to Noon
  • Collin McKinney Dedication at the Collin County Historic Museum, 300 E. Virginia St. 10 a.m.
  • Collin McKinney Exhibit 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Collin County Historic Museum
    Digital Competition Results on Display; Arts & Crafts Exhibit MISD Elementary School Choirs perform at 1:00
  • Chestnut Square Tours, including Collin McKinney Exhibit 3 – 6 p.m.
  • Birthday Bash Barbecue Competition & Tasting, Live Music on Stage 4 – 7 p.m. (green space adjacent to Chestnut Square at S. Tennessee and Davis St.)  Tastings: $2 each (children 6 and under free)
