Learn to Cook the Old-Fashioned Way!

Get ready to embrace a food revolutions in your home!  Have fun, get creative, mix it up!

At Kids Cafe and Camp your child will enjoy the full flavor and healthy benefits of cooking with locally farmed food.  Our recipes will focus on seasonal summer ingredients so your kids will want to eat healthy and fresh. 

We are located int he Bevel Reception House at Chestnut Square Historic Village in McKinney, TX.  

Camp Activities:

  • Learn how to measure for a recipe.
  • Plant seedlings as you learn about what makes vegetables grow and what grows best in our part of Texas.
  • Learn the importance of food safety.
  • Meet local beekeepers and learn about the life of bees and the benefits of honey.
  • Learn how yogurt is made and meet a local farmers who will talk about life on the farm and growing healthy animals and vegetables.
  • Learn how to care for seedlings at home.

Recipes:

  • Turkey & Fresh Vegetable Lettuce Wraps with Homemade Spicy Ranch Dressing, Texas Basmati Rice and Fresh Cantaloupe Soup.
  • Whole Wheat Pasta with Fresh Local Ricotta, Spinach, Tomatoes & Bacon, Garlic Toast and Easy Blueberry Cobbler.
  • Cucumbers are plentiful in Texas during the summer and we'll make dill pickles with cucumbers from the garden that campers can take home.
  • Spinach Salad with Honey Mustard Dressing, Sesame Orange Chicken and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies with Honey.
  • Grilled Pizza with Homemade Marinara Sauce, Fresh Vegetables and Local Cheese and Grilled Peaches with Yogurt and Honey.
  • Bake Potatoes and assemble a Baked Potato Bar with Taco Filling, Cheese, Green Onions and Bacon
  • Crush Fruit to make Sorbet and Ice Cream

Camp Details:

  • Ages 6*-12 years
  • Monday-Friday, 1-4 p.m.
  • $250/week ($200 for July 6-9)
  • Early registration April 15-May 1 entitles student to 20% discount.

    June 14-18
    June 21-25
    June 28-July 2
    July 6-9
    July 12-16

    *6 year olds must have completed first grade
