Bakers, start baking! Pie eaters, start practicing!, Kids, start decorating! A decorated bike contest leads off the children's parade for Chestnut Square's "An Old-Fashioned Fourth" and a pie baking and pie eating contest follow. Pack up a picnic and join us on the grounds at 12 for lunch, then enjoy all the great crafters and special events planned for the afternoon. READ ON……. Sunday, June 26th, from 1 to 5 p.m., Chestnut Square Historic Village will celebrate an old-fashioned "Fourth" as part of the always interesting and fun, monthly Living History Days. Admission is Free. To celebrate The Fourth, among the many featured old-fashioned activities are a children's parade and decorated bicycle contest, foot races and relays, sparklers, speechifying, a flag ceremony with a visit from Betsy Ross, a baked pie judging contest and a pie eating contest. Live bluegrass, gospel and country music will be on the village grounds throughout the day and ice cream and lemonade will be available. The Village grounds will be open for picnics from 12 to 1 p.m. As part of the Living History program, spinners, weavers, knitters, lace-makers and a blacksmith will be displaying their historic crafts. A beautifully restored stagecoach will be on the Chestnut Square grounds for photo opportunities. Dr. Harmon, photographer, will be in his studio for historic or fun photographs.
